How the math works

Referral fee first, your real operating costs second

Walmart Marketplace says there are no setup, monthly, or hidden fees. A referral fee is charged when a sale is completed. That makes the platform charge straightforward, but it does not make every order equally profitable: category rates differ, and fulfillment, advertising, inventory, and operating costs remain seller-specific.

total_sales_price = item_price + shipping_handling + gift_wrap + other_buyer_charges

The calculator applies the selected category's referral-fee structure to that total sales price. It then subtracts only the costs you provide. It deliberately does not estimate a complex Walmart Fulfillment Services fee from incomplete dimensions or shipping data.

Flat and price-band categories

Many representative categories use a flat rate, such as 15% for Everything Else / Home, 8% for Consumer Electronics, and 6% for Personal Computers. Apparel selects 5%, 10%, or 15% based on the total sales price. Baby / Beauty and Grocery similarly use lower rates at or below their stated price thresholds and 15% above them.

Marginal price tiers

Other categories split the price into portions. Electronics Accessories, for example, charges 15% on the first $100 and 8% on the amount above $100. Furniture uses 15% on the first $200 and 10% above; Watches uses 15% on the first $1,500 and 3% above. The lower rate does not replace the first-tier rate on the whole sale.

profit = total_sales_price − referral_fee − fulfillment − ads − COGS − other_costs

What the calculator includes—and what it does not

Included: the Marketplace referral fee for the listed representative categories, buyer-paid charges that form total sales price, and seller-entered fulfillment, advertising, COGS, and other costs. Not included automatically: WFS pricing, taxes, refunds, chargebacks, or category exceptions not represented in the dropdown.

Questions

Walmart Marketplace fee FAQ

How much does Walmart Marketplace charge sellers?

Walmart Marketplace has no setup, monthly, or hidden fees. It charges a referral fee when a sale is completed. The percentage depends on the product category and, for some categories, the total sales price or price portions.

What amount is the Walmart referral fee calculated on?

The referral fee is calculated from the total sales price, which includes the item price plus shipping and handling, gift wrap, and other charges paid by the buyer.

Does this calculator estimate WFS fulfillment fees?

No. Walmart Fulfillment Services costs can depend on product and shipment details. This calculator does not invent an automatic WFS rate. Enter the actual fulfillment or shipping cost you expect to pay.

How do tiered Walmart referral fees work?

Some categories use a rate selected by the total sales price, while others apply one rate to the first price portion and a lower rate only to the amount above a threshold. The calculator applies the structure shown for the selected category.

Is this an official Walmart calculator?

No. This is an independent planning tool. Rates were checked against Walmart Marketplace’s official pricing page on October 29, 2026. Verify your category and current charges before listing.
